             This striking, white-flowered perennial looks
great as a border plant, blooming from September through October.
Its edible leaves are garlic flavored and tidy. The plant increases
in volume each year, and is divided easily like setting out onions.
              Likes compost!
Grow specs: 1-2 feet. Average garden soil. Full sun.
Used in Chinese medicine to warm the kidneys
and stomach, it is also used to treat urinary incontinence, impotence,
sore lower back and knees.   (Photo ©
