Leonotis nepeta, Lion's tail, Wilde dagga

We got seeds of this plant from friends,
just to see what it was. What an exotic, unusual experience! An annual,
easy to grow, it reaches heights over six feet and has a flowering
whorl every 10 inches. From this spiny case emerge 2 to 3 inch orange,
furry legs (like tarantula legs) that come out and unfold. A delight,
and definitely in the class of strange, rare and peculiar.
Grow specs: 4-6 feet. Average garden soil. Full sun. A folk remedy
from Africa, it is reported to have mild euphoric effect.
