Garlic Chives, Allium tuberosum Blooming from August through October, this striking, white-flowered perennial looks great as a border plant. Its edible leaves are garlic flavored and tidy. The plant increases in volume each year, and is divided easily like setting out onions. Likes compost! 1-2 feet. Average garden soil. Full sun. Used in Chinese medicine to warm the kidneys and stomach, it is also used to treat urinary incontinence, impotence, sore lower back and knees.
